Well, I at least meant to do you the favor of closing out this blog after having you all as my two-year pen pals in Bolivia, but my hope was to get all my pictures on-line to show you before doing so. So, finally I have been able to do that at least for the pictures that I took during the trip with Hannah and everyone else in Peru. The link is:http://picasaweb.google.com/leatherbury.meaganSo I h...

Breathtaking. No other way to describe the ancient Incan ruins dropped in the middle of a bevvy of jagged mountain peaks. We arrived to eat a buffet lunch at the Machu Picchu resort, the only hotel and eating establishment on the mountain. The buffet was included in our tour price, which was good, because we avoided noticing that it was $30 US! That makes the food taste a little less savvory. Our ...

Hello!!!We are in Cusco and have met up with the fantastic Allison, Mike, Zak and Bobby for this portion of the trip. We have been here for 3 days and have packed them as full as possible. Highlights include our tour of the sacred valley (scenery out of a movie, amaranth blowing in the wind, llamas nibbling at our hands, vendors trying to sell us everything from choclo (corn on the cob) to weavi...

This is Hannah. I figured since I have not spent two years in Bolivia, my experience riding a bus from La Paz to Copacabana (that's in Bolivia folks, NOT the one in Brazil) would be a little more comparable to what ya'll readers might feel in such a situation. Some simple "facts":1. The ride from La Paz to Copacabana (the beach that lies along the coast of Lake Titicaca in Northern Bolivi...

As some of you may know, Hannah and I made possibly one of the stupidest and bravest decisions in our lives and decided to mountain bike down the "World's Most Dangerous Road" that starts at La Cumbre in La Paz (at an altitude of 4,800 meters above sea level) and ends in Yolasa (at an altitude of 1,700 meters above sea level.) The route is 64 kilometers long and almost completely downhi...

Well, this is Hannah; Meagan is off haggling for overnight bus tickets to La Paz. Apparently, there is a really nice bus with food and sleeping accomadations for our 11+ hour ride, however, they appear to be sold out. There is a mush cheaper (let me say now that this keyboard is covered in plastic and I am having trouble typing). In Bolivia, I have found that you pay for what you get when it come...

Tomorrow we head to the Salar de Uyuni (the salt flats) in a well-equipped four wheel drive vehicle with another couple who we hope speak english (I think Hannah is getting tired of being mute) driver, guide, meals and lodging provided. However, communication will be non-existant so don't plan on hearing from us until at least late Friday or possibly early Saturday. So, that is why we are saying...

Hello all,For the second night in a row, Hannah and I just finished eating at 10:30pm. Here's what Hannah has to say about today! Argentinian beef really is THAT good. Helado (South American ice cream) is a second runner up to Italian gelato. Horseback riding is tough on the tush, but nice on the eyes. Luxury hotels are nice. Oh down comforter on a cold night. Okay, so I'll flush that...

Hello all,Hannah and I are in Salta and high on a combination of altitude (1,900 meters above sea level), a really good Malbec wine, sugar from various Argentinian pastries including alfajors and cuernos, and some Argentinian version of sudafed which is helping my stuffy nose. Oh did I mention life in there as well?I want to let Hannah right her impressions on Boyuibe because I have written about...
