Peace Corps Volunteer | What's Life Like for An RPCV

My Memoir of my service as a Peace Corps Volunteer- www.amazon.com Peace Corps took me across the world, hitchhiking through rural Africa, on endless train rides through bustling India, on foot through the Himalayas, traveling by rickshaw in Thailand, by boat in Laos, and ferries in Vietnam. In the course of my epic and enlightening journey tramping the globe, I endured danger, delay, and dismaying circumstances. Life is calling, how far will you go? Empower Women in Africa | Sponsor a Student

Angie is a secretary and EWA ambassador at Nambula Combined School in Uukwaluudhi, Namibia. With the help of a Peace Corps volunteer, they started a girls club in 2008. Angie has continued on her own to empower the girls' lives and create hope and opportunity for brighter futures. Because of her dedication and the evident need for further assistance, we are proud to work with her to bring sponsorship opportunities to their school! They have even sent baskets made by women in the community who recognize the need for funds for the girls. To purchase a basket from Uukwaluudhi to provide more funds for their scholarship program, please contact us at Info@empowerwomeninafrica.com. For more information about our programs and what you can do to help, visit us at empowerwomeninafrica.com or find us on facebook at www.facebook.com We look forward to hearing from you and joining our team to bring more educational and economic opportunities to girls and women in rural Africa. A Day In the Life of A Peace Corps Volunteer in Africa

A day in my life as a volunteer teacher in Namibia. Alyssa Rosemartin: Peace Corps Nicaragua, 2000-2002

Alyssa Rosemartin is a graduate student in the University of Arizona, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences' School of Natural Resources. She served in the Peace Corps in Nicaragua from 2000-2002 as an environmental educator. Alyssa tells us that once she built relationships within the community, her service became meaningful to her. She worked with teachers in elementary schools in Mina El Limón, a gold mining town of 10000 people. As an environmental educator she and the teachers engaged their students with out-of-school reforestation projects and organic vegetable gardens. Alyssa found a number of her Peace Corps experiences have been extremely helpful in preparing her for a career. From: Arizona Views: 917 0 ratings Time: 04:08 More in Education

"Another dive spot" Ireneandjason's photos around Phuket, Thailand

A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Phuket, Thailand by TravelPod blogger Ireneandjason titled "Another dive spot" Ireneandjason's travel blog entry: "we flew from kuala lampur to phuket island in southern thailand. arriving to this location without a clue as to where to stay is a frustrating experience. because of course there are the touts that want you to stay in the resorts we cannot afford who tell us that there is nothing else. or that it is full. next is the taxi service who also tells us there is no way to get to kata without them. we point to the minibus sign, thankfully written in english and they throw up there hands in disgust and leave us alone. we got dropped off in kata at lucky's guesthouse by the minibus and they thankfully had rooms available. we went out to dinner and sat next to a lady who looked like a blonde cruella deville with a British accent chatting up a local thai gal about how she found Buddhism and how she was so important in namibia or somewhere and how the people of thailand want this or that and finally ended with calling this gal her thai daughter. it was so strange because she spoke so loudly, we couldn't help but hear. after this we walked the main strip and happened upon an open dive shop. we signed up for a trip right away and went back to get some sleep. the next 3 days we dove out near phi phi and ko racha. we dove near where the movie the beach was filmed the first day. we had 4 dives, including an evening dive ... From: TripAdvisorTRIPWOW1 Views: 0 0 ratings Time: 01:06 More in Travel & Events
