Stumbled upon this blog today (I’d completely forgotten it existed) and decided this would be a good time to revive the annual New Year’s survey. 1. What did you do in 2011 that you’d never done before? Been married for one year (is that cheating?). I don’t know that I did anything new. I applied [...]

After working out, I try to eat something within 30 minutes.  If I can’t get food inside of me, I turn to one of the following two options: Optimum Nutrition Natural Pro Complex; or Nature’s Best Isopure Natural. I do NOT take the recommended dose. I usually use only one scoop. Normall,y this will give [...]

I take a whole lot of pills.  Anyone who is around me knows that I take supplements at least twice daily.  Below is my regimen.  I take this twice daily, once in the morning, upon waking, with breakfast.  The second about 12 hours later, usually with a protein shake or dinner. AM/PM Regimen (a) Controlled [...]

I haven’t been getting as much sleep as I like lately because I’ve been working on a big article for work and my wedding stress.  When I do sleep, I don’t really have dreams but lately I’ve had three that I remember.  The first two were zombie like dreams where I’m battling the infected.  Guess [...]

So, my cable modem wasn’t connecting to the internet properly, and I tried all the normal things you would do to fix it. No luck. Sigh, time to call Cox tech support. They made me go through their automated support, which in my experience is just a recording that tells you to [...]

Keeping with my yearly tradition: In 2009, I resolved to: 1. Graduate this program. (Check) 2. Work out more consistently. (Half Check-Still needs improvement) 3. Relax and enjoy life more. (Check) 4. Be the best damn bridesmaid team for Lindsay that the world has ever seen!! (Check) 5. Drive less. Recycle More. (Check) 6. Eat more local food and less processed crap. [...]

So tonight, I stayed home and tried to make the Tom Ka Gai soup. And it worked. Not exact, not perfect, but so close. Close enough to declare victory.

Paul will be out of town this weekend and it is the first weekend in a long time that I have nothing planned. I’m so excited about this. Tonight I take my weekly test, then I’m free. I’m free to dance around my apartment. I’m free to go rollerblading. I’m free to sleep in. And I’m [...]

Yes, I would call me lazy.  I haven’t updated in a while, but there isn’t much to report except that I’m a grown up.  I have a fiancee, I own a house, I have whole life insurance, I work 9 to 10 hours a day, and I don’t do anything at work that I can [...]

This month’s class is Governmental and Non-Profit accounting. For our research paper we are analyzing a City’s “Comprehensive Annual Financial Report” (CAFR). This report is required for each city, each year and has a large set of requirements. I chose New Orleans because, hell I like it and with all of the hurricane fund money, [...]

Hi Everyone. I’m am sorry that I’ve been so MIA these days. I have to say that I think often about posting. I’ve been so focused on school, work, attempting to stay in shape and have some semblance of a life. School has been incredibly difficult the past few months and this month seems as it [...]

The boot-sector of DOS 1.0 is celebrating its 28th birthday today (it contains the timestamp “7-May-81″). This makes me feel old.  I remember DOS.  I thought myself a power-user at one time.  My skills were great, and eventually, I locked out everyone, including myself,  on my parents’ computer by requiring a password and manipulating the [...]

Frankie, It’s 2009 and the winners of the 2009 Pulitzer Prizes have been released.  I do not see your name there.  It is quite noticably absent from this year and past years.  The bet was that if you won the prize, you get to have sex with me.  Sorry Frankie.  You have not won, [...]

Come May 22, I will be a home owner.  I will have roommates, but I will also have an extra guest room.  That room is for guest, i.e., you.  Anyone wanting to end up on the east coast should give me a shout.  DC is a good place to visit and it’s only a 3 [...]

I have been shocked a number of times recently by the pure baseless arrogance of so many people. A large aspect of all of our lives is luck. We had absolutely nothing to do with our being born in the life we were given. I was born into a white family in America. That makes life easier [...]

At the end of May, I’ll be heading off to England to visit some friends and travel.  The main point of going to England is to go to Dan’s wedding on June 6th. Anyone want to travel with Kristin and I?  I doubt you could go to the wedding, but I’m going to be in Europe [...]

Dustin was up here visiting for the weekend.  We has a great time.  Now kids, if Dustin can do it, you can do it too.  I’ll have a house soon, and we can support many more visitors.  Don’t be shy. Next Baton Rouge trip for me will probably be in July.  Not sure when yet though. Dustin [...]

I’m not sure how long this site will be up, but here are the pictures of the house I am buying.  http://slideshow.mris.com/slideshow.cfm?ListingKey=90092126897 I’d post a picture here, but unfortunately, the site is flash based.  Maybe when Kristin and I go for the home inspection on Tuesday I will get some more pictures.  So, the low [...]

For those of you that don’t know, I am an accountant for a very large company. Due to corporate restructuring the jobs/duties have been shifting. Now most of the real accounting is taking place at our corporate office in a southern state far away from California. As of today, I officially know my place. The regional [...]

I enjoy red wine but am too impatient to decantor it and too poor to buy the really good stuff. Recently a friend of mine showed me her Vinturi Wine Aerator. She swore it made cheap wine taste much better. I was sceptical but then I tried it. It actually works. I started wanting to [...]

Today my friend Becca gave me a baking tip to replace oil in baked goods with apple sauce. She makes FABULOUS cupcakes pretty often and apparently does this almost every time. YUM! This got me to thinking what other sorts of substitution can/do you make while cooking. (And by healthy I mean more lower fat but I'm also a believe in more natural, less chemicals READ:In Defense of Food.)

As I grow older, I realize more and more I am living the typical life.  I’m not saying that that is necessarily a bad thing.  I’m just saying it’s small and uninteresting.  Maybe that explains my lack of blog updates.  What do I report?  Well, I need to be better about reporting stuff.  So, I’m [...]

Ok, so Kristin wants the wedding in Croatia in June of 2010.  Who’s interested in going?  This date is so far ahead that you should be able to save up for a plane ticket and have a week or more of vacation in the hole. Who’s wants to go?  I need to know seriously.  So seriously, [...]

One year, a husband decided to buy his mother-in-law a cemetery plot as a Christmas gift. The next year, he didn’t buy her a gift. When his wife asked him why, he replied, “Well, she still hasn’t used the gift I bought her last year.” ————————– A woman is standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror. She is not [...]

Our society has largely lost touch with class, manners, and empathy. I am not implying that I am not guilty of some or all of these as well. I am saying that I think we, as a people, need to be exposed to more real world experiences and less virtual, created, or contrived “realities.” It is [...]

To all those who are visiting, I’m planning a pub crawl in Arlington.  There are 4 Irish pubs spread out on the main drag.  I’ve been to all the Irish Pubs, but there are a few bars that I may add to the list to increase the total of drinks imbibed.  6 to 7 bars [...]

For forever, I thought I was the only “Rhonda Bengtson” in the whole world. I mean, what a random name, right? So today I was reading a silly article about celebrities who Google themselves (apparently Brad Pitt doesn’t even know how to operate a computer - he’s old) and decided to Google myself. It’d been [...]

What a week. I’ve had a crap-ton of homework, and an analysis paper on the acquisition of Gillette by Procter & Gamble in 2005/2006.  I’ve also worked out three times and managed to pull a muscle in my neck doing sit-ups on the ball. FUN! Oh yeah, we also have a new President. Tuesday was pretty exciting, [...]

Sometimes when I write long emails I apologize at the beginning and promise a joke at the bottom to make it worth reading. I wrote one of those today and in my brief search for a joke to include, I found some funny ones that I couldn’t include: Q: How many Necrophiliacs does it take [...]

It only took threating to buy him a plan ticket for Saturday to force him to buy a plane ticket himself.  This serves as a notice to all readers that you too can visit the DC Metro Area.   Josh got a pretty good flight off of Orbitz. The best airport to fly into is DCA (Reagan), [...]

It seems like some people are on to an alternative to string theory to explain the universe, and may have detected the “holographic blurriness of space-time.” A guy came up with the idea, realized current experiments might be detecting evidence of his idea, called ‘em up and was like, “Hey, you seeing some interference in [...]

Baton Rouge, tomorrow, around noon.    Work has been a hassle.  I’ve had so much work and my secretary has kind of dropped the ball.  While some of it is my fault for being new, I expect people to do their jobs.  Grrrr.  </rant> So, Chimes, sometime while I’m in Baton Rouge.  What day is good for you [...]
