Only in Bulgaria would these be flavors of a popular snack food for kids....
Working at the Yasli/Preschool I get my fair share of interesting and/or hilarious moments. I really think the best parts of working there are some of the classic broken English shirts that I've seen. Or sometimes, they make perfect grammatical sense, but I struggle to understand what it means:
Some favorites (I have not altered these in any way, all of these are real): A picture of a dog, labeled "R is for Dog" 3 blocks, labeled "1x, 2, 3" respectively. Below the blocks: "Lost in time, alone on fire" in bright, friendly children's colors. A plain red shirt, with only "CRAB" written across the front. The McDonald's Arches, labeled "Maidon Os." Mickey Mouse is on the back. A black shirt with a patch sewn on the front reading "I dictared the necessary orders for complete" The back contains a 5 line block of random letters. A picture of a truck, painted in a tie dye design reading "Warrior and Peace: Highest Quantity for You!" I'll update the list as I find more...
Nelina - "Nyama Nashi, Nyama Vashi"
This is a folk crossover (that, or a chalga star who switched to folk... you can never really tell). The song isn't that bad for a chalga song. I'm just trying to figure out what is going on in the video. I think a few girls are fighting over a guy. But then there are some guys checking out some girls. A soccer ball gets involved. Then I think everyone dumps each other and they all start a dance party. That smile sure is enchanting though...
A pattern I've noticed around Bulgaria is an amazing number of cars located impossibly on top of buildings. I started seeing this pattern in PST in Krainitsi, where 2 were located on top of houses, and the pattern continued into my site. I have also spotted this phenomenon in Shumen and in Razgrad...

This is pretty much as OIB as it gets people. Check please...
Hey everyone... I thought there needed a place for us Peace Corps folk to share OIBs - you know those moments of hilarity that seem to only happen here... things that happen and leave you shaking your head and speechless, other than a simple "Only in Bulgaria," and then later laughing about it all day.
This will be a group blog, and I'll invite whoever wants to join. that way we can all pitch in when one of those moments happen - pictures, stories, whatever you got - and enjoy the magic together... -Greg
