On my way...

I am still in Philadelphia, leaving for Madagascar in approximately 19 hours. What am I doing now you ask? Yes, I am attending my very last college party. What else is there to do in Philly? Anyways, I may or may not have internet access during my ten week training. Apparently we are going to be 2 hours away from the capital, in a town that is conveniently known for its cheese-making. We have been talking nonstop about integrating and adapting for the past day and a half during staging, which is incredibly well-organized and informative. But I am ready to just be there and smell the smells and see the sights. Well, I am going to close now so I fully expect all of you to write to me, especially if I don't have internet access. Don't let me down! Bye for now...

Here is my address in Madgascar during my ten week training period:

Alison Mickiewicz, PCT

Bureau du Corps de la Paix

B.P. 12091

Post Zoom Ankorondrano

Antananarivo 101

Madagascar

East Africa

Also, I've heard that if you draw crosses on the envelope and write "objects religieux" and/or "via paris" that the envelope is less likely to be opened by postal workers. So you've all got the info, send me some letters!!

Hi everyone. I've created this blog so that I can keep friends and family updated about my life in Madgascar as a Peace Corps volunteer. I don't know how often I'll be able to update, since I haven't exactly made it there yet. Ok, not too much exciting going on just yet, I am leaving for my training in Philadelphia in two days. So yes of course I am waiting until the last minute to pack everything; old habits die hard. It's been pretty surreal getting ready to move thousands of miles away to a country I don't know all that much about for two years! Enough for now, I'm tired and not being very interesting at the moment :)
