Peace Corps Journals world's largest archive of peace corps stories

In 1961, President John F. Kennedy established the Peace Corps to promote world peace and friendship with 3 little goals in mind: 1. To help the people of interested countries meet their needs for trained men and women. 2. To help promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served. 3. To help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of all Americans. It seems so simple. The reality, however, is nothing but. In less than a week, the journey will begin - first flying to D.C. for a few days of staging and later to Kyiv. From there, who knows? Preparations have been made, bon voyage parties have been given, stress levels have started to take effect. But at the end of the day, it just feels worthwhile. To the future! And in the meantime, check out the Peace Corps Website and new PSA at www.peacecorps.com Cheers!
