Zainab on the right was the best overall student in her class. She would apologize for "letting me down" if she didn't get an A on a test. She worked really hard.

Sister Mshahara was one of the sisters at the school. She was a really sweet lady. Nina was another teacher. Her husband Shembilu is the academic master at the school. They're both great people and have two cute little girls.

Elvida was like an African girl version of my best friend Woody in high school. It was really weird.

The girls all loved my hair and sometimes I would let them play with it. They all have to shave their heads, so they can't play with their own hair.

These are two of my favorite kids. Susan just graduated. She was head girl and really had things together. I predict she'll be the first woman president of Tanzania. Mary was like my little sister. I would poke fun at the kids all the time, but Mary was the only one who would give back just as good. She also worked hardest in math of all the kids.
