Did one leg of the Chicago Urbanathon. It was fun to do this with friends, but I don't think I'll be signing up again. Some cool and challenging obstacles along the way. This morning I hit the gym and the treadmill. I'm always sad when the darkness and/or the cold drive my running indoors.
Had the chance to run in the Chicago marathon. Not trained for a full, but pulled out a half. Great training run for the monster. It was, however, very hot.
Did a 4.5 miler on Saturday morning in Berwyn. I'm at a park for a conference, so I ran here this morning. It's getting cold (boo), but this morning's run was still really nice. There's some rolling hills out here, so it was nice to spice it up.
Did three miles after work and hit Huffman hill twice along the route. Felt good.
Did the 10K yesterday morning with Danielle. It was fun. Hot at times and cool at others. Overall, I really nice run.
Ran a faster-paced three miler this morning. Felt okay, but still worried about the 10K I registered to run Saturday. Now I'm cooling down before I get ready for work.
Did three miles after work on Friday. Felt good to get out there after a long week of little activity.
Tried to run both yesterday and today. Ended up walking both days. I've either acquired allergies or I have a cold. Either way, I'm lethargic and cloudy-headed. Here's hoping that tomorrow will be better. I'm resting and pumping the OJ.
Did the Half Madness 10K with some friends this morning. Finished in just over 67 minutes. Pretty slow, but it felt good. Beautiful course and perfect weather. J did the half marathon in his fastest time ever (under 2 hours). A great day.
Went to the Men's soccer game then put in a quick three miles before watching part of the women's game. Still feeling pretty lethargic when running. Not sure what's going on there, but I'll try just to push through.
After a long day of work J and I took the bikes out for a little ride. Did 7 miles in and around Riverside. Very nice.
Went out for a slightly longer run on this steamy morning. I am drenched, but still glad I got out there. The race next weekend is a 10K. I think I've only done two other 10K races in my life. The first time I finished third from last. The second time I puked afterward. Here's hoping for a chance to break the curse of the KS 10K.
Did three miles this morning. Felt like there was lead in my legs. Spent some time stretching afterward in hopes this might help with my next run. When will this get easier?
Did three miles this morning before work. I'm still really slow, but it feels good to get out there. Running in the morning makes my whole day better. Gotta love that.
Did 10 miles after work today with J. It was fun to get out there and ride. My new bike is so fast; it's really fun to ride. About 3/4 of the way through the ride when J and I were stopped, I lost my balance and fell. Darn clip-less pedals.
Slept in a bit today after a long day and late night with friends. Got up to do a three miler before cleaning up around the house and doing some work. Hope to get to the pool this afternoon.
Did two miles--one day earlier this week and two this morning. It was humid, but since I was going a short distance, I was able to go a bit faster than usual. Need to cool down fast so I can get ready and out the door to the train.
Swam laps for 15 minutes this morning at Centennial Beach. Beautiful day.
Did a slow and sweaty two-miler after work yesterday. Put in three miles this morning. Did a little walking to get myself going this morning. Feeling lazy.
Had a blast this morning at the Naperville Triathlon. The new bike was awesome. Finished 10 minutes faster than last year. Amazing what a little bit of training and a sweet bike can do. You gotta do one of these sprint distance triathlons with me when you get back.
I put two more in over at the track. Definitely boring running in a circle. Need to make some new running playlists.

Don't fall out of your chair but actually put my shoes on and got to work (it was strange bc i can't remember the last time i wore socks, speaks alot for my sweet chacos tan line). Jogged a mile at the stadium then did some 100m sprints with walking in between. Also walked some laps.
Got back to the homestead and decide why not do a biggest loser workout dvd. I did a 30 minute cardio workout. Butt sweat and all, I feel pretty good. Now I'm going to celebrate with a bowl of cereal and WATERMELON. Is it wrong that I still want to go buy a chocolate bar?
Did the Chicago Rock and Roll Half Marathon yesterday morning. Felt pretty good for the first five miles, but slowed after that. It was hot and a little hilly (for Chicago anyway). Just glad that I felt well enough to get to the starting line and even more grateful for the finish.
Did a slow three-miler this morning. Felt pretty good. It's cool after the rain earlier this morning and my body felt better than it has in a long time. I'm thankful.
Still not feeling too great on my feet, so I've been biking and swimming. Did 15 miles on the bike with J and swam twice at the Berwyn pool.
J bought me a sweet road bike for my birthday. I rode around this morning and worked on clipping in and out of the pedals. I'm pretty sure I'll bite it sometime soon. The bike is awesome and it felt good to ride.
Did 4.5 miles in Berwyn today. Running with a dizzy head is pretty uncomfortable. I had to do some walking, so I was out for over an hour just to get 4.5 running miles logged.
Went out for a walk as I'm still dealing with some health issues. Ended up feeling so good that I ran. Made me very, very grateful.
Did five miles this morning. Trying to cool down so that I can hop in the shower before catching the train to work.
Did 3 miles on foot yesterday morning. Felt pretty lethargic. Then swam laps at the Berwyn pool just blocks from our house. Need to get to swimming and biking so that I can do the triathlon in August.
Walked a friend to the train station then hit the streets for an early morning three-miler. Felt good to get out there and sweat. Man, I love running in the morning when there's still some peace.
90 degrees and humid, so I was dripping with sweat as soon as I stepped out the door. Still managed to squeeze in two miles between work and a work-related dinner.
After the flood, the job interview, and the illness, I finally made my way back to the streets of Berwyn this morning. Did a very slow and humbling three miles. I hope that I'm able to build my mileage quickly.
Did a training run on Thursday, the Warrior Dash on Saturday, and another run today (Tuesday) for a total of nine to add to the tally. The Warrior Dash was a muddy, insane, chaotic mess. Glad I did it once, but don't think I'll be a repeater.
Had just enough time to put in a quick two miles after work and before a work-related dinner. Didn't get far, but felt pretty good at a faster than usual pace.
Did a quick three-miler between training and dinner last night. Ran into a speedy friend and did one mile with him. Definitely helped me to pick up the pace. I'm not feeling ready for the Warrior Dash, so I'll be relying on my "mental toughness" to get me through the mid-afternoon heat and the crazy obstacles.
Did 3 in Berwyn this morning. Feeling pretty lethargic, but felt good to get out there anyways. Followed up the run with watching Ghana beat Serbia in the first round of World Cup play. Awesome!
Did two miles out at the College's new retreat property near Dixon, Illinois. It was wet and cool, but absolutely beautiful. Having some ankle pain, so putting ice on that in hopes that it will subside.
Today after week of not running I got back on the horse. It was sorry thing to call one but still got a few miles in. At one point in the run, I thought what am I running from. Stopped and stared at the sky. After a moment tried to convince myself I'm not running from something I'm running toward being healthy. I guess I should have reminded myself that when I ate a package of cookies.
How are the berwyn runs going? Kivertsi K
Well, the race began in an absolute downpour...complete with lightning and thunder. We were soaked long before the race started. Let up at around mile 4, but continued to rain on and off for the whole 13.1. Very hilly course, awesome fans. My favorite US half marathon. And...no puking.
Did three this morning. Felt fatigued after about five minutes. Makes me nervous about the flying pig on Sunday. I feel like I'm coming down with something...my whole body is just tired. I just made a smoothie and I'll try to rest between now and then. Here's hoping I can make it through.
Last night I got a call from my CP telling me there were no classes for some reason I didn't understand. Bottom line: I got to catch some ZZZs this morning. Eventually got my butt up and moving despite still feeling a little under the weather. Got in four really slow miles today.
Made sure to wear running underwear and stay on the opposite side of the road from the crazy dog. Hope your run today is better than mine. Kivertsi K
didn't feel the best today but thought i would run it off. didn't work out so well. i didn't feel too well during the run plus the whole three miles i had a creeper (not fun).
on my part of the run down one of the main roads a marsuka was going so i cut back to the sidewalk (more like extreme hiking path) as i did this a huge rotweiler jumped up and started barking. i swear to god i thought it was the end with me with how far his back legs hit on the fence. looped around town cutting the run shorter because i wasn't feeling well and in the process got lost. i mean i knew where i came from and could back track out to the main road but still didn't know exactly where i was. i knew the direction i needed to head in but roads here aren't really built in a grid system especially when you get on dirt ones that often come to a dead end. eventually by looking at the power lines i found my way out. so today was pretty eventful for only a 3 miler.
Pretty good weather today minus running into the wind for at least a mile. Feel empowered about getting out there and shakin' what my momma gave me while jogging around town. The babushkas like to stare. I tell myself it is because they are impressed not because I run funny.
Time for some afternoon apples, if I only had peanut butter I would be in heaven. -Kivertsi K
Well, I finished. It wasn't pretty, but I guess I couldn't have expected much better. Did the 10 miles with some walking. Finished in 12ish minutes/mile. Slow and humbling. The weather was great. Did my regular vomiting routine about 30 minutes after finishing. What's wrong with me?
Eating some snacks post run with the babusci's 4 year old grand daughter.
Was going to settle for a biggest loser workout on dvd, but the sky cleared up out my window and I thought why not. I ran a different route around town. Saw many chickens, two turkeys and a couple of goats (no pink chickens sadly). Estimated it at least 4.25 miles. I'm starting to get use to strange looks from the babuskas and oldtimers that sit outside near their gates. I normally yell Dobryi Den (Good Afternoon) as I'm even with them. Regardless rain or shine, kick ass tomorrow in the 10 miler and then seriously go get a frosty. Take a photo of it sitting on the table and then I'll dream about that image.
Did my first outdoor non-track workout today. I'm gauging my timing by what I was running in the 10k but since there was no hills I'm pretty sure I did at least four but don't want to smudge the results so I'll round down on estimates. Hope you are getting pumped for the 10miler, ran or shine I'm sure you'll kick butt.
Oh, I ran past some random goats tied up near the road eating grass. I can't say Berwyn had those.
Survived the 10k. Next time need to practice the hills. I think my time would have been alot better if i would have. Overall, I really enjoyed the race.
The Tuesday and Wednesday before got in 4.5 miles. So here is another 10.75 (rounding the 6.2 to 6.25). Hope your runs have been good and enjoyable.
Did 5 around Berwyn this morning. Had a hard time getting out there, but once I did it felt great.
